The “Juncker for President” campaign goes to Alsace

On 15 April the “Juncker for President” campaign bus toured the Alsace. The EPP candidate for President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker visited the region of Alsace in France.
Early in the afternoon, Jean-Claude Juncker arrived in Pfettisheim where he visited the farm of European People’s Party President Joseph Daul. Mr Juncker was received by Mr Daul and his wife along with candidates of the the Union pour un mouvement populaire (UMP) from the East France constituency, among whom Nadine Morano, head of list for the constituency; and Arnaud Danjean, Member of the European Parliament.
On the farm, Jean-Claude Juncker had the opportunity to see the agricultural works in development and met farmers and local authorities. He later deliver some remarks about the importance of the Common Agricultural Policy for European citizens and the role of agriculture for job creation saying: “Agriculture represents 30 million jobs in Europe – it is our wealth.”
Mr Juncker then went to the seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg where he participated at a European People’s Party Group Meeting which was also attended by the current President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso.
During the meeting, the EPP Members of the European Parliament expressed firm support to Jean-Claude Juncker in his bid to become the next President of the European Commission.
