The “Juncker for President” Campaign visits Vienna for election events with the Austrian People’s Party

The EPP candidate for President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker was in Vienna on 7 May for a day of campaigning alongside to the leaders and candidates of the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP).
In the morning, Jean-Claude Juncker was welcomed at the ÖVP headquarters by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the youth branch of the party, Sebastian Kurz. Together, they met with young ÖVP activists as well as young candidates for the European elections, before holding a joint press conference.
In the afternoon, Jean-Claude Juncker was joined at the Naschmarket by Michael Spindelegger, leader of the ÖVP, Vice-Chancellor of Austria and Minister of Finance; and by Othmar Karas, lead candidate of the ÖVP in the European elections and current Vice-President of the European Parliament.
Along with a number of ÖVP supporters, the three walked through the market and took the opportunity to sample local produce.
Finally, late in the afternoon, Jean-Claude Juncker delivered a key note address at the annual Laxenburg Reception, hosted by the Governor of Lower Austria, Erwin Pröll. He received a warm welcome and rounding applause at the event attended by top ÖVP leaders, including Sebastian Kurz and European Commissioner Johannes Hahn.
